9/11 remembrances planned for Braves game
During the Braves' doubleheader today against the New York Mets at Turner Field, several tributes and presentations are planned to honor victims and heroes of the terrorist attacks.
There will be a moment of silence and video presentation at 9:11 during all night games throughout the major leagues.
An American bald eagle will soar over the field during ceremonies before the 7:05 p.m. game, and a bagpipe rendition of God Bless America will be
performed by the Atholl Highlanders Pipes & Drums.
After a moment of silence, there will be a 21-gun salute and the playing of Amazing Grace.
Members of the Atlanta police and fire departments will be led to center field by six members of the New York City Police Department
for the unfurling of a large American flag. The National Anthem will be performed by the group No Strings Attached, with a stadium flyover by
Blackhawk helicopters from the First Battalion of the 171st Aviation Regiment of the Georgia Army National Guard.
